| A recent photo of the Valle Crucis Elementary School, where I attended 5th grade in 1937-1938 term. This is when this modern school first opened. It replaced several small neighborhood schools in this section of Watauga County. My sister Laura Farthing Church taught many years at this location as did our double first cousin, Mary Hazel Farthing Mast.
