| Below left photo shows my dad's sister, ELSIE FARTHING POWERS and her husband JOHN POWERS. This was in 1925 when they had just gotten married. As reported on another photo on this web site, they had met at Richmond, Virginia where Aunt Elsie was working in the medical records department of a hospital. Uncle John was a medical student training to become a physician. This photo was made at the William and Laura Farthing farm in Watauga County, N.C. At right is a photo 51 years later, at the Farthing re-union in 1976 held at the VALLE CRUCIS MISSION ( EPISCOPAL DIOCESE PROPERTY ). Uncle John Powers M.D.(retired ) is shown at left and Reba Farthing at right. The Powers family lived at Wallace, N.C. in eastern part of the state. |
