Upper pic shows the coal burning locomotive pushing a RR car loaded with 40 passengers up the 3 miles toward the top of Mt. Washington. The engine reportedly burns a ton of coal in getting to the top. It takes about 1 hour,20 minutes to make the 3 mile distance.

Lower pic features the engine and passenger car on top. The temperature was 15-17 degrees when I was there. The car stays about 20 minutes on top before making the 1 and 1/3 hour trip back to the bottom.
