The photo at left is very dull and hard to see. The original photo was made many decades ago, and shows a footlog with handrails.  This structure spans the Watauga river, and crosses the huge rock in the middle of the river. Note the people standing on the huge rock. 
Looking closly in the distance,  the outline of the log house can barely be seen.  Photo at right was taken from the Watauga river Bridge, 2004, and shows the huge rock in the river.  I placed an image of the old house in approximately its original location. My father, Ben W. Farthing, took down this old log house and constructed a modern building, in 1941, to house modern livestock weighing scales, at this location.
