| Reba is shown at the WORLD FAMOUS SIGNPOST FOREST at Watson Lake, YUKON, Canada. ( MILE 600 on the Alaska Highway) This forest got its start in 1942 when the Alaska Hwy was under construction. A soldier, helping construct the ALASKA HWY, put a sign on a tree giving the mileage to his hometown in Illinois, and some others did the same. When the HWY opened for traffic after the war, many travelers have added various signs to collection. There are close to 45,000 signs at this signpost forest in 1999. It is maintained by the Watson Lake Lions Club. |
