Rockies vs Padres today - Aug 27, 2006 at 1:05pm
Ironwork and brick is used to give the stadium an old-timey look
We walked this route from Union Station to the stadium, under the baseball arch.
Million dollar lofts - mountains 30 miles away in background.
Scoreboard ads with unsuspecting fans on middle screeen.
The view from our seats
And the pitch
Decision time for the batter - notice the white blur of the baseball in upper right corner.
Too late to swing on this pitch, right?
Oh, well. He swings anyway. Beautiful form, except (as you can see) the ball already passed over home plate!
The catcher gloves the ball as the hitter misses the pitch.
Upper row of blue seats are exactly one mile above sea level!
Those closest mountains are near Boulder, CO about 30 miles away
Well, it IS Coors Field.
Fans in upper stands
Views of Denver from the stadium
Views of Denver from the stadium. Qwest is no more and was acquired by Century-Link in 2011.
All the buildings in this area used to be industrial , but now all are residential lofts.
The baseball entry arch
Game over - everybody is going home. (The Rockies won today).
The way back to Union Station to catch the light rail train.
Entering Union Station
Here is where we catch the light rail train.
Avid baseball fan
Walking to train platform
Not a boat, a cable-stayed bridge!
Fans waiting for the train
Future expensive lofts.
